Our Container Awareness Programme:

This is a 2 day course aimed at enabling delegates to understand better how the container industry operates with the objective of achieving greater understanding and the ability to ask better questions as a result.

This course can also be attended as 2 x 1 day sessions or as 1 x 2 day session and an option exists to have a 1 day summarised course.

The course is based in Southampton as this provides the opportunity to view container operations at first hand.

Course content
Day 1

Classroom based, this day covers the basics of taking export bookings and describes how the export process is in parallel with an operational planning process that makes containers available, links them to booking references and container seal numbers.

Where booking information crosses into statutory regulations then these links are discussed.

We also cover the follow on import pre-arrival, arrival and delivery processes

We also explore commercial and operational issues that can arise from incorrect data

The day concludes with an optional tour of Southampton container facilities.

Day 2.

Container depot based, this day covers the detail of the container operation following on from Day 1 and so covers transport planning and organisation, issues relating to cargo loading and container stowage as well as issues relating to hazardous, reefer out of gauge and project cargoes.

We will cover how container ships are planned and the role of central ship planning and terminal planners

After classroom presentations there is the opportunity to visit an operating container depot and to view the main processes of empty storage and lifting, container repair, container preparation for cargo loading and despatch and receipt of containers.

Where possible we aim to include a visit to a container ship in port (subject to schedule)

Summary

The above programme can be completed as 2 days back to back, as 2 x 1 day sessions or as individual stand alone sessions.

Pricing

We charge £450 + VAT per delegate per day as we believe that we have great expertise to make available to our programme clients. This includes all materials, refreshments but not overnight accommodation which we will arrange for those following the 2 day programme and will be charged separately.

Where possible we will arrange transport to / from Southampton Central or Parkway rail stations or Southampton airport.

Please note that we believe that a high level of interaction between delegates and our team is important and therefore we limit the number of delegate places per course to 6.
